Beamish’s reference library also houses a magnificent collection of trade catalogues of suppliers and manufacturers dated from around the 1820s up to the present day. These form a comprehensive reference source of manufacturers’ products covering a very wide range of subjects, from all over the British Isles. The collection is one of the largest and most accessible in the country and is much used by publishers and researchers.
The trade catalogues are available for research purposes by appointment only. To reference the catalogues full details of the topic of research must be indicated to members of the curatorial staff prior to your visit. This will give them time to source the requested material to be made available. These collections are for reference purposes only and catalogues are only loaned to museum staff.
